Alessandro Assolari

Alessandro Assolari SMM (born August 26, 1928 in Scanzorosciate , Bergamo Province , Italy ; † April 13, 2005 ) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Mangochi .

Life

Alessandro Assolari which entered Congregation of Montfortains at and received on 13 March 1954, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On October 3, 1969, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the first Apostolic Prefect of Fort Johnston. Alessandro Assolari became on September 17, 1973 as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture Fort Johnston to the diocese , which was renamed the Diocese of Mangochi , its first bishop. The Bishop of Bergamo , Clemente Gaddi , ordained him episcopal on December 8th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Blantyre , James Chiona , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Blantyre, John Baptist Hubert Theunissen SMM.

On November 20, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted Alessandro Assolari's resignation due to reasons of age.
