The Archdiocese of Blantyre ( Latin Archidioecesis Blantyrensis ) one of two Roman Catholic archbishoprics in Malawi .

The diocese was founded on December 3, 1903 by Pope Pius X as the Apostolic Prefecture of Shiré from the vicariate of Nyassa ; the first bishop was the French Auguste Prézeau . On April 14, 1908 the name was changed to the Apostolic Vicariate of Shiré, on May 15, 1952 the name was changed to the Apostolic Vicariate of Blantyre. Through Pope John XXIII. was on April 25, 1959 the elevation to the archbishopric .

The Archdiocese of Blantyre based in Blantyre , the suffragan diocese of Chikwawa (1965), Diocese of Mangochi (1973) and Diocese of Zomba assigned (1959).
