The Montfortaner are a Catholic priestly community and male order . Its Latin name is Societas Mariae Montfortana ( abbreviation SMM ). Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort founded the religious community in 1705, initially in his French homeland in Brittany .
Today the community is represented in 36 countries around the world, divided into 10 provinces, plus some regions and vicariates. The main focus of the work of the Montfortaner Fathers lies in the parish pastoral care, but also extraordinary pastoral work such as youth work, church advisory service, retreats and retreats, hospital pastoral care, nursing. Santino Brembilla, who succeeded William Joseph Considine, has been the Order's Superior General since 2005 .
The provincialate of the German Order Province is located in Bonn .
