John Baptist Hubert Theunissen SMM (born October 3, 1905 in Schimmert , Netherlands ; † April 9, 1979 ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Blantyre .

Life

John Baptist Hubert Theunissen joined the Congregation of Montfortains at and received on 1 December 1929, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 25, 1949, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Giufi and ordered him for the first Apostolic Vicar of Shire. The Bishop of Roermond , Jozef Hubert Willem Lemmens , donated him episcopal ordination on March 25, 1950 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Haarlem , Johannes Petrus Huibers , and the Bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch , Wilhelmus Pieter Adrian Maria Mutsaerts .

John Baptist Hubert Theunissen became on April 25, 1959 as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariates Shiré to the Archdiocese , which was renamed the Archdiocese of Blantyre , its first Archbishop. On October 14, 1967, Theunissen resigned as Archbishop of Blantyre. Pope Paul VI thereupon appointed him titular archbishop of Bavagaliana . On December 19, 1968, he opted for the titular bishopric of Skálholt .

John Baptist Hubert Theunissen attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
