Tarcisius Gervazio Ziyaye (born May 19, 1949 in Khombe , Malawi ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Lilongwe .

Life

Tarcisius Gervazio Ziyaye received on 14 August 1977, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 26 November 1991 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Macon and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Dedza . The Archbishop of Blantyre, James Chiona , donated him episcopal ordination on May 23, 1992 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Dedza, Gervazio Moses Chisendera , and the Bishop of Lilongwe , Matthias A. Chimole .

On May 4, 1993, John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Lilongwe. Tarcisius Gervazio Ziyaye became Bishop of Lilongwe on November 11, 1994, succeeding Matthias A. Chimole, who resigned for reasons of age. On January 23, 2001, John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Blantyre .

On July 3, 2013, Pope Francis reappointed him as pastor of the diocese of Lilongwe, which has now been elevated to an archbishopric.

Tarcisius Gervazio Ziyaye has been chairman of the Bishops 'Conference of Malawi since 2000 and also chairman of the Association of Bishops' Conferences of East Africa in 2008 .
