Rémi Sainte-Marie

Rémi Joseph Gustave Sainte-Marie MAfr (born January 11, 1938 in La Minerve ) is retired Archbishop of Lilongwe .

Life

Rémi Sainte-Marie joined the order of the White Fathers and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1963 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Molicunza and auxiliary bishop in Dedza on February 14, 1998 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Malawi , Giuseppe Leanza , on 9 May of the same year; Co- consecrators were Gervazio Moses Chisendera , Bishop of Dedza, and Felix Eugenio Mkhori , Bishop of Chikwawa .

On September 7, 2000 he was appointed Bishop of Dedza. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 18, 2006 Coadjutor Bishop of Lilongwe. After retirement Felix Eugenio Mkhoris he followed this July 4, 2007 at the office of the Bishop of Lilongwe. With the elevation to the archbishopric on February 9, 2011 he was appointed Archbishop of Lilongwe.

On July 3, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
