The Bistum Zomba ( lat. : Dioecesis Zombaensis ) is in Malawi preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Zomba .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Vicariate Zomba on May 15, 1952 from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Shiré . On April 29, 1956, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Dedza .

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum christiana fides it was raised on April 25, 1959 to the diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Blantyre as a suffragan . On May 15, 1969, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture of Fort Johnston .
