The district of Ambala ( Hindi : अम्बाला; Punjabi : ਅੰਬਾਲਾ ਜਿਲਾ) is located in the northern Indian state of Haryana .
The district is located in the north of Haryana, 190 km north of the federal capital New Delhi . The district extends over the north Indian plain and extends in the north to the Siwaliks . The Markanda flows through the eastern part of the district in a southerly direction. Its area is 1568.85 km². The administrative seat is the eponymous city Ambala .
