Glansdorf is a village in Collinghorst , a district of the municipality of Rhauderfehn in the East Frisian district of Leer . The resulting 1785 Moor colony after the administration lawyers and stick Hauser Amtmann Rudolf of Glan named (1725-1807). The name is first documented for the year 1819.

history

After the reclamation edict of Friedrich II, Rudolf von Glan looked for areas that were suitable for colonization. He came across the area of today's Glansdorf southwest of Collinghorst. However, its inhabitants have been using the land there for a long time as pasture for their flocks of sheep. The farmers therefore sued against the colony's layout, but lost the process after seven years. This led to a tense relationship between the long-established residents of Collinghorst and the Glansdorfers, which continued until the middle of the 20th century. From November 3, 1912, Glansdorf was on the standard-gauge Kleinbahn Ihrhove – Westrhauderfehnconnected. The stop had “a loading track connected on both sides with a loading lane and the obligatory wooden shelter with goods room.” The station also had cattle scales. However, this was sold again in 1922. On May 28, 1961, the Kleinbahn stopped passenger transport by rail and replaced it with an omnibus line. The stop became less and less important. In the years 1961/62 only around 10 general cargo and express shipments and almost no truckloads were dispatched each month. In 1974 the railway also stopped freight traffic.
