Stained glass pinaigrier

The stained glass Pinaigrier existed in the 16th century Beauvais . From this developed a family dynasty of glass painters that existed for several generations . The family came to Paris in the middle of the 16th century .

Thibault Pinaigrier

Thibault Pinaigrier worked as a glass painter in Beauvais from 1534 to 1562. His sons Jacques, Nicolas and the younger Pierre also became glass painters.

Jacques Pinaigrier

Jacques, the eldest son of Thibault Pinaigrier, married the widow of the glass painter Jean Porion in Paris in 1553 and continued his workshop in Rue Saint-Jacques . In 1571 he was a leading guild member and in the 1580s he restored the windows of the Saint-Séverin church .

Pierre Pinaigrier

Pierre, the youngest son of Thibault Pinaigrier, owned a workshop on Place Maubert in the 1570s. He died before 1654, leaving two sons, Jacques and Louis.

Nicolas Pinaigrier

Nicolas Pinaigrier was another son of Thibault Pinaigrier, who is recorded in Paris from 1566. During his forty years in Paris, his workshops were known in rue Troussevache, rue de la Savonnerie and, from 1581, rue Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois ( 1st arrondissement ). He taught his son Jean and his nephews Jacques and Louis the craft of stained glass. Nicolas Pinaigrier died in Paris on December 2, 1606.

We are familiar with his work in the nave of Saint-Etienne-du-Mont and in the transept of St-Gervais-St-Protais . He also worked for the church in Beauraing-la-Couldre and made numerous windows for Hôtels particuliers in Paris, none of which have survived .

Louis Pinaigrier

Together with Nicolas Chamus, Louis Pinaigrier continued the work of his uncle Nicolas Pinaigrier in the Church of St-Gervais-St-Protais.
