Mariahilf Glass Museum

The Mariahilf Glass Museum is a museum in Vienna's 6th district, Mariahilf .

The museum, which opened in October 2008, is located in the Mariahilf district museum . As the first museum for glass painting in Austria, it contains a collection and an archive for glass painting and the glazing industry in Vienna with a focus on glass painting, art glazing and refined flat glass.

One focus is the former workshops in the 6th district, such as the glass painting Carl Geyling's Erben and the branch of the Tyrolean glass painting , but also the Mollard School and many smaller businesses that have been forgotten. Most of the loans come from these institutions. Among other things, originals, photographs, certificates, sketches, cardboard boxes or tools are shown, which illustrate the production and use as well as the art-historical importance of glass painting.

In addition to the permanent presentation on the manufacture and technology of glass painting, annual special exhibitions, lectures and excursions to a traditional glass painting workshop are planned.
