Pirmin Josef Bischof (born February 24, 1959 in Solothurn ; resident in Eggersriet ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

Pirmin Bischof completed the Matura Type A at the Solothurn Cantonal School in 1978 . He studied law at the University of Bern and graduated in 1985 with a licentiate . In 1987 he became the Attorney - and notary of the canton of Solothurn . In 1988/89 he studied at Harvard Law School and graduated with a Master of Laws . In 1990/91 he was admitted to the New York Supreme Court as an attorney at law . In 1994 he received his doctorate on international product liability law from the University of Bern .

From 1992 until its collapse in 1994, Bishop was Vice-President of the Bank Council of the Solothurner Kantonalbank. Because of the so-called Kantonalbank debacle , a parliamentary commission of inquiry was formed which accused the bank council of having "rashly, hastily, even downright [...] negligently" followed the management's request when taking over the bank in Kriegstetten.

Bischof has been a member of the town council of Solothurn since 1997 . From April 2005 to November 2007 he was a member of the Solothurn Cantonal Council . In the elections on October 21, 2007 , he was elected to the National Council. As a national councilor, Bishop was a member of the Commission for Economy and Taxes (WAK). As a member of the party presidency, he is also the spokesperson for economic and financial issues at CVP Switzerland. In the 2011 elections , Bischof was first re-elected to the National Council and then to the Council of States in the second ballot . In the elections in 2015 and 2019 he was confirmed in office.

The co-owner of a law firm in Solothurn represents and advises companies, associations and private individuals mainly on economic, labor, contract and international law issues. He is a member of the boards of directors of small and medium-sized companies and of the Gösgen-Däniken AG nuclear power plant since March 12, 2009 .

Bischof has been married since 2015 and has two daughters. He lives in Solothurn.
