The connecting railway Kaliwerk Bischofferode was a single-track mine connecting railway in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia . It branches off the Bleicherode – Herzberg railway in Bischofferode and leads to the potash works there .
course
The approximately 4.5 km long route branched off from Großbodungen in front of the Bischofferode passenger station to the assembly station west of the station, where the freight trains have to head off. From there, the route curves in a westerly direction, and then crossed the road from Bischofferode to Hauröden. After a straight route (in some cases with a second track), the line ended in the potash works station.
history
Presumably with the complete commissioning of the potash plant at the beginning of the 20th century, the railway line to the plant premises was also planned and implemented. In 1910 the section from Großbodungen to Bischofferode station was completed. The line was in operation until the end of potash mining in 1993, after which it was closed. A locomotive shed also belonged to the works station.
