Timothee Yap Jin Wei (born January 5, 1994 in Singapore ) is a Singaporean athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Timothee Yap Jin Wei gained his first international experience in 2011 when he retired from the World Youth Championships near Lille in the 400 meter hurdles with 54.55 seconds in the first round and also with the Singapore sprint relay (1000 meters) in 1:56, 46 minutes did not make it to the final. He then took part in the hurdles at the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang , but was eliminated there with 55.51 s in the lead. In 2016 he received a wild card in the 100-meter run for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , in which he survived the preliminary round and was then eliminated with 10.79 seconds in the seventh heat. In 2017 he was disqualified at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar over 100 meters in the preliminary round and also retired from the preliminary round with the Singapore 4 x 100 meter relay with 40.83 seconds. He then failed at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in 10.79 s and 21.87 s over 100 and 200 meters and finished sixth in the relay in 40.93 s. With the season he also took part in the Summer Universiade in Taipei , but was disqualified there in the run-up.

In 2019 he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships in Doha in the 200-meter run , where he was eliminated with 23.04 seconds. He then took part again in the Student World Games in Naples and retired there over 100 meters with 10.97 s in the lead, while he could not finish his race over 200 meters. At the beginning of December he finished eighth over 200 meters in 21.56 seconds at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas and finished fifth in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 12.35 minutes.
