The Gleschendorfer Church (also Gleschendorfer Feldsteinkirche ) is the church of the village Gleschendorf in the municipality of Scharbeutz in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein . The church, of which only the tower has been preserved, was first mentioned in 1253. It stands in the center of the village on the Kirchanger and is the oldest building in Gleschendorf.

description

The walls of the massive, square, up to 27 m high church tower up some brick surfaces of layered brick fieldstone built on a foundation of boulders. The steep, shingled roof of the tower has a square floor plan in the lower third, which then merges into an octagonal part.

On the front side of the tower roof there is a small bell, on both sides there are tower clocks. On the three sides that point in the direction of the nave there are sound openings for the bells below the bell and the two clocks.

The church nave with apse , which was built from bricks on a foundation of hewn natural stone and covered with roof tiles, dates from 1864. The church nave, originally made of field stones, was demolished in 1863 due to severe dilapidation. A chapel was later added to the nave on the south side and a sacristy on the north side .

Others

The mortar for the construction of the church was obtained from gypsum from the Segeberger Kalkberg .

The church, especially the tower, was extensively renovated between 1997 and 2003.
