Networks

Global gradually took over long-established private radio stations in the United Kingdom and merged a number of other stations in networks.

LBC

LBC was founded under the name London Broadcasting Company as the first commercial radio station in the United Kingdom and began operating on October 8, 1973. The station was Britain's first purely commercial talk radio station . In addition to London's leading commercial morning show, it also broadcasts a live talk show hosted by the founder of right-wing populist UKIP , Nigel Farage . On the London radio market, the station leads BBC 5 Live with a market share of 5.6% to 4.3%. On February 11, 2014, LBC became the UK's first private UKW station to broadcast nationwide via DAB .

From 2007 to 2014 the abbreviation stood for London's Biggest Conversation , and since it was broadcast nationwide in 2014 it has been interpreted as Leading Britain's Conversation .

Capital FM

Capital FM is a group of radio stations playing a hit radio format. Capital Radio went on air as the island's second commercial station after LBC in October 1973. Today's group emerged from the merger of various commercial stations. Since then, all stations in the network have identified themselves as Capital FM and UK No. 1 Hit Music Station . Local news programs and the distribution of advertising time remained with the stations; all other parts of the program come from the Capital Network studio in Leicester Square , London. Capital FM has also been broadcast nationwide via DAB since 2016 .
