Global Consciousness Project
The Global Consciousness Project ( Eng. " Global Consciousness Project ", abbreviation GCP ) is a long-term scientific experiment in which around 100 researchers and engineers worldwide take part. With the help of a technology developed in Princeton and random number generators , data has been collected by a worldwide network since 1998, which is supposed to prove the existence of a "global consciousness". According to the theory of GCP, events such as terrorist attacks, which trigger strong emotions in many people, generate measurable swings of suitable instruments. The data is transmitted over the Internet to a server in Princeton, where it is archived and analyzed.
Methods
When instruments are currently around 50 globally distributed diodes which white noise generate. This noise is evaluated and should have different properties depending on the mood of the people who live in the area. So z. For example, the “state” of the “global consciousness” can be determined using digitized noise values.
Example: terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001
Numerous analyzes of significant events are published on the project website, which are intended to make the functionality of the “global consciousness” clear. According to this , a noticeable surge in the measurement data would have been recorded a few hours before the attacks on September 11th . Upon examination of the allegations, EC May and S. James P. Spottiswoode came to the conclusion that the alleged deflections were a product of an arbitrary choice of method and parameters.
criticism
A major drawback of this field test is the lack of real control tests. No real random data from the GCP network is used for control purposes, but pseudo-random data. The Global Consciousness Project presents the results and the level of significance for special media events on its website, but there is a lack of comparative data from other time periods in which there were no special events or for which there were no predictions. Only a comparison between the “event data” and real “control data” from the random number generator while “idling” would allow a judgment to be made as to whether the effects observed here are really noticeable.
