It is the cultural history museum for Odalen , Vinger , Solør and Østerdalen and one of the eight locations of the Hedmark fylkesmuseum . It was founded in January 1911 under the name Glaamdalsmuseet , but took on its current name in March of the same year.

Multicultural Norway

In its open-air part, the museum has several buildings dedicated to the building tradition of the forest fins , who settled on the border with Sweden. There are exhibits on the South Sami language in the exhibitions . In the 1990s, the museum set itself the task of documenting the history of the Roma and the spread of their culture. In cooperation with the Roma organizations Taternes Landsforening (TL) and Landsorganisasjonen for romanifolket, the traveling exhibition Latjos Traum was created , which is also available as an online exhibition .
