Gloria Rojas Vargas
Gloria Rojas Vargas is a Lutheran theologian and was church president in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile until 2011 .
Life
Vargas studied Protestant theology after leaving school and was ordained in 1985 as the first woman in her church . She is a doctor of theology. In 2001 she became church president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile.
From July 2010 to May 2017 she was one of the seven vice-presidents of the Lutheran World Federation .
In 2011 she handed over her office of church president to the theologian Luis Alvarez and has since been pastor in Punta Arenas , the southernmost Lutheran congregation in the world. In 2014, she was called by President Michelle Bachelet as a pastor to the Presidential Palace.
