Life

Gnaeus Egnatius was the son of an unknown Gaius Egnatius. He was in the mid-140s BC BC Praetor and proconsul of the province of Macedonia, which has just been incorporated into the Roman Empire . Egnatius built the Via Egnatia named after him , a road that connected the Bosphorus with the Adriatic coast and was 535 miles long in total. His name appears on several milestones . In addition, Egnatius is mentioned in a resolution of the Senate at about the same time.
