Gnome Iceland (loosely translated from English Gnominsel ) is a rocky island in the archipelago of Adelaide- and Biscoe Islands off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between the eastern end of Blaiklock Island and Thomson Head near the head of the Bourgeois Fjord .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey took measurements in 1947 and named them because their shape is reminiscent of a gnome emerging from the sea .
