Go! Discs

Go! Discs Records is a British music label .

The label was founded in January 1983 in London by former Stiff Records press manager Andy MacDonald. Reason, according to MacDonald, according to New Musical Express (October 17, 1987): "I just thought: It's worth a try, and it seemed like a good way to get what I liked to hear on the radio." "I just thought it was worth trying and it seemed a good way of getting some of the things I liked to hear onto the radio." )

First artists on Go! Discs were The Box with the 12 " EP " No Time for Talk ". Billy Bragg and the Housemartins were the main drivers of commercial success from 1985 onwards . More artists and bands on Go! Discs in the early years: The Bathers , The Bic , Boothill Foot Tappers , Captains of Industry , His Latest Flame , June Kingston , The La’s , A Thousand Miles of Sunshine .

Lucrative chart hits delivered later from the Housemartins formed The Beautiful South and Beats International . In 1992 Paul Weller signed with Go! Discs .

Go! Beat Records was founded as an offshoot for dance music such as by Gabrielle or Portishead .

In 1996 MacDonald resigned when Polygram acquired a majority stake in Go! Discs backed up. He then founded Independiente Records . He took Paul Weller there with him.
