Gabrielle (singer)
Gabrielle (born Louise Gabrielle Bobb in London on April 16, 1970 ) is a British singer.
Musical career
Her first single, Dreams , was a # 1 hit in the UK charts in June 1993. The singer had her second No. 1 hit with Rise (2000), which included a sample of the Bob Dylan classic Knockin 'on Heaven's Door . Dreams and Rise also became their most successful titles in Germany.
Further successful singles were from her second album Give Me a Little More Time (1996), If You Ever (1996, a duet with the British band East 17 ) and Walk On By (1997) written by Burt Bacharach . With Out of Reach (2001) the singer also contributed a song to the soundtrack of the film Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast .
Private
Because of a defect in her right eye - she suffers from ptosis - Gabrielle wore an eye patch at the beginning of her career , today she usually wears dark glasses .
