Mark Morrison (musician)
Mark "The Mack" Morrison (born May 3, 1972 in Hanover ) is a British musician . His biggest hit was Return of the Mack .
Life
Morrison was born in Hanover to bardic parents and grew up as a child in Leicester . The parents later moved to Miami, but Mark Morrison returned to the UK at 19.
After serving a three-month prison sentence, in which he decided to start a music career, the first professional recordings were made in 1995. His first single, Crazy, reached the top 20 in the UK charts in the spring of 1995. With the single Return of the Mack from the spring of 1996, he achieved an international hit. In the UK, the song became the first number 1 single by a male, British, black solo artist in the 1990s. Return of the Mack also became a top 10 hit in German-speaking countries . Subsequently, Morrison again reached the top 10 with Trippin ' , Horny and Moan and Groan, at least in Great Britain, but otherwise he could no longer match the previous success. Morrison was nominated for four BRIT Awards in 1997, but won none. His appearance attracted press attention especially as he wore a black top that said “Not Guilty”.
Morrison has been charged with several crimes. In 1997 he was sent to prison again for three months for trying to smuggle a stun gun onto an airplane. At the same time, his single Return of the Mack rose to number 2 on the US charts. In 1999 he appeared at the Brit Awards , where he announced Whitney Houston .
In 2004, he was falsely suspected of rape.
When his comeback failed in 2002 with his record company Death Row , he switched to 2Wikid, then in 2004 to Mona Records. In 2006 he released Innocent Man with guest contributions by Adina Howard and DMX , his last solo position in the UK charts.
Return of the Mack was re-released in 2005 as a Ford Explorer commercial theme song and remixed in 2016 by Nevada featuring Fetty Wap . This version hit the charts again in both the UK and Germany.
