Go-suzaku

Go-Suzaku ( Japanese 後 朱雀 天皇 , Go-Suzaku-tennō ; * December 14, 1009 ; † February 7, 1045 ) was the 69th Tennō of Japan (1036-1045).

His proper name was Atsunaga ( 敦 良 ). He was the third son of Ichijō-Tennō and the younger son of two sons of Empress Fujiwara no Shoshi, whose father was Fujiwara no Michinaga .

A wife of Go-Ichijōs was also a daughter of Michinaga, but his wife, Princess Teishi ( 禎 子 内 親王 , -naishinnō ), was a daughter of Sanjō -tennō.

During his reign, the power of Fujiwara no Yorimichi and his clan peaked.

Go-Suzaku was the father of Go-Reizei- tennō (with Michinaga's daughter) and Go-Sanjō -tennō (with Princess Teishi). He was succeeded by his son Go-Reizei.
