GoGo Penguin is a British fusion trio founded in Manchester in 2012 by pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Rob Turner. They perform "advanced electronic dance music on acoustic instruments".

The band places "a sovereign rhythm axis" under melodic soundscapes with song-like structures using central, expansive bass figures and live drum & bass . From 2012 she released two albums on the Gondwana label, initially Fanfares , followed by v2.0 in 2014 . For her second album she was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2014 . In early 2015, the group signed a record deal with Blue Note Records , where they released their (third) album Man Made Object in 2016. The band's second work for the label followed in February 2018, A Humdrum Star . In 2019 the EP Ocean in a Drop: Music for Film was released , which was inspired by Philip Glass ' music for the 1982 documentary Koyaanisqatsi , which they had set to music live at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg in 2017 .
