Goitschit is a type of amber that was found in the Goitsche opencast mine near Bitterfeld . The name given when this fossil resin was first described in 1986 goes back to this.

Goitschit is significantly softer than succinite . The always opaque, whitish to yellowish pieces show specific features in infrared spectroscopic examinations, which enable a reliable differentiation of Goitschit from other types of amber.
