The Gold Coast Football Club , also known as Gold Coast Suns , is an Australian football team from Gold Coast , Queensland , which has played in the Australian Football League since 2011 . The venue is the Metricon Stadium (also Carrara Stadium ) with a capacity of 25,000 spectators in Carrara, a suburb of Gold Coast. The club colors are red, gold and blue.

After the founding, the Suns took part in the TAC Cup in 2009, in which they finished fifth. In 2010 they played in the Victorian Football League with a very young team including twelve 17-year-old talents. In the following year, the Suns finally completed their first AFL match and at the end of the season finished last in the table with three wins and 19 defeats, making them the Wooden Spoon as the worst team. 2012 Gold Coast was able to improve by one rank and ended the season with three wins and 19 defeats before the Greater Western Sydney Giants on the penultimate place in the table.
