The term Goldbug (English bug gold for "Gold Bug") describes investors , the gold and buy to a long-term bull market speculation. Sometimes the word pejorative is used.

history

The name was popularized during the presidential election in 1896, when supporters of William McKinley bought gold in various forms, demonstrating support for gold.

Possibly the word was originally mentioned in Edgar Allan Poe's 1843 story entitled " The Gold Bug " over an encrypted treasure map.
