Edward Lee Spence (* 1947 ) is a German-American author , diver , photographer and underwater archaeologist .

Life

Spence graduated from the University of South Carolina and the College of Marine Arts . In 1970 he discovered the US submarine wreck CSS Hunley . Spence also located the SS Georgiana shipwreck during his dives. As an author, he has written several books about his discoveries in underwater archeology . Spence lives in Summerville , South Carolina .
