Golden Brain Award
The Golden Brain Award is an award given by the Minerva Foundation for outstanding achievements in the field of neuroscience , particularly in the field of vision and other functions of the brain . Usually presented at the Society for Neuroscience's annual conference, the award consists of a gold-plated model of a brain. The sculpture was created by Florence Resnikoff . Nominations for the award are made by the previous award winners.
The foundation, which is based at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), was founded in 1983 by Hellen and Elwin Marg. In addition to the annual Golden Brain Award , the foundation supports a biennial conference for neuroesthetics and operates a guest house for neuroscientists in the immediate vicinity of the UCB campus.
