Golden Sunshine is an Austrian band founded in 1974 by Walter Wessely specializing in dance music and German hits .

history

On the initiative of Walter Wessely , then fifteen, four young musicians got together in the summer of 1973 to realize their common dream: to make live music that inspires people. One of the great role models for the ambitious musicians was the then already successful German band Die Flippers . Richard Fuchs, Gerhard Hofer and Johann Pammer formed the first live formation together with Walter - with a guitar, a bass guitar, a Philicorda organ from 1966, a drum kit that mostly consisted of self-made components and a converted old tube radio as an amplifier. With an enthusiasm that can only be explained by the youth of the actors, the rehearsals were dogged - and the first live performance actually came in 1974, to which the musicians still had to be driven, as none of them had a driver's license, let alone one Car had ...

Contrary to expectations, the performance was well received. Two changes of line-up followed, around 1976 Walter, Hans, the new drummer Ferdi Friedl and the equally new guitarist Sepp Lipold were in good business. Around the same time, Walter began to compose songs himself - and something unlikely happened: A producer (Peter Rosinak) heard the band and signed them to Ariola.

From 1979 a long-playing record was produced almost every year. The next line-up followed in 1984: Josef Lipold had to leave the band for professional reasons; Walter's brother Christian Wessely joined the band as a keyboardist, while Walter switched to guitar. In 1990 the band separated from bassist Hans, who was replaced by Klaus Kaspar. The band still exists in this formation today, even if they no longer appear live and only produce CDs. In 1992 Walter Wessely founded his own recording studio, the "Sunshine Studio", and in 2000 his own label, "Ton in Ton Records".
