Goldfink Berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Goldfink was a small business company based in Berlin . Between 1910 and 1960 she had fashionable, elegant writing implements made. It sold these under the “Goldfink” brand . Goldfink owned seven other stores in the capital. The headquarters were at Friedrichstrasse 77.

In 1930 the cheapest Goldfink, the Goldfink "Alexander", cost 3.25 Reichsmarks (RM) and a Goldfink Standard (hexagonal head) between 8 and 31.50 RM. Other models were the Goldfink "Liebling" and the Goldfink "Wunderfüller".

The specimens from the high-quality gold and silver collection are of particular collector value. More commonplace, on the other hand, were the fashion writing implements of the "Walzgold" edition, which were a cheaper version of the exquisite gold and silver collection. Goldfink products, which are rare today, sometimes fetch prices of several hundred euros on the antiques market.

Goldfink was purely a stationery business that emerged from the Gold Fink company (gold buying and selling). An own production of writing implements never took place. At the beginning, the writing instruments were obtained from the Columbus company in Fürth, and later from the Melbi company in Odenwald. The metal devices came from the Fend company in Pforzheim. Since Berlin was the capital of the Reich in the 1930s, sales flourished on one of the main shopping streets and additional branches were opened. As a result of the Second World War , Berlin lost its role as a central economic metropolis and administrative center and the Goldfink company ultimately lost its leading role as a stationery seller.
