The bay of Çandarlı ( Turkish : Çandarlı Körfezi ) is a bay on the Turkish Aegean coast between Çandarlı and Foça , in the south of the bay is the oil port of Aliağa .
In ancient times it was named after the Aeolian city of Elaia, the Gulf of Elaia . Besides Elaia, the cities of Pitane and Myrina lay on the bay, Gryneion in the east and Kyme in the south .
The Bakırçay River ( Kaïkos in ancient times ) flows into the bay.
