Crossroads on the L 271

The crossroads on the L 271 is between Binsfeld and Düren in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia , directly next to the state road 271.
The cross was erected in the second half of the 19th century. It is right next to two prominent trees just before the boundary of Düren . Until the Thirty Years War, the desolate village of Miesheim lay behind the cross in the field .
The wayside cross is about four meters high and is made of red sandstone . On the two-tiered base there is an inscription that is no longer legible. It is a profiled cross with a cast iron body.
The following inscription was on the front:
"Wanderer on
your way.
Accompany you of the
Savior's blessing."
The inscription on the back is only partially legible:
"Look through this sign of the cross ... into your heart ..."
The wayside cross was entered on March 7, 1985 in the monument list of the municipality of Nörvenich under No. 5.
