The Golke is a karst spring near Bad Langensalza in Thuringia .
location
The Golke forms the source of the Salza River southwest of Ufhoven . It is made up of two sources, the Great and Small Golke.
Big Golke
The Große Golke is the heavier of the two karst springs with an average of 240 liters per second. Its blue shimmering spring pot is covered with sand at the bottom, which is constantly being whirled up by the enormous pressure of the escaping water. It is about four meters deep. The source was first mentioned in 1537. The sinkhole source is located behind the building of a waterworks in a small wood that is difficult to reach and has been under nature protection since 1938. Entering the area and diving in the spring pot is therefore prohibited. The outflowing Salza joins after about 40 meters with the outflow of the Kleine Golke coming from the left.

The Kleine Golke is further south-west of the other source. Your clear source pot is overgrown with water plants , was cleaned of the bottom sludge in 1821 and surrounded by an earth wall. The spring funnel has a circular circumference and is three meters deep. The average flow is 120 liters per second. After the Salza flows out of the source over a level , the Zimmerbach flows from the right .
geology
By enhanced lime solution in the warmer climate of interglacials and Holozän it came to Bad Langensalza to form solid travertines and in the lower reaches of the Salza to Kalksandablagerungen.
