Gongwangling site
The Gongwangling site ( Chinese 公 王 岭 , Pinyin Gōngwánglǐng , W.-G. Kung-wang-ling ) is an archaeological site in Lantian County in the Chinese province of Shaanxi . In addition to a fossilized skull bone and artifacts of the Lantian man discovered here, a fossil faunal community from the Pleistocene was discovered, the Gongwangling Faunal Community ( 公 王 岭 动物 群 , Gōngwánglǐng dòngwùqún - "Gongwangling faunal assemblage"), which possessed subtropical features. The Gongwangling period ( 公 王 岭 期 , Gōngwánglǐng qī , English Gongwangling period ) is named after its dating .
The Lantian man's sites (Gongwangling site and Chenjiawo site ) have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (2-47) since 1982 .
