Josef "Sepp" Brugger (born May 22, 1953 in Lienz ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ). Between 2003 and 2008 he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament .

education and profession

Josef Brugger grew up on a mountain farm in Matrei in East Tyrol and attended elementary and secondary school in Matrei between 1959 and 1964. He then moved to the Academic Gymnasium in Innsbruck , which he attended until 1972. Between 1972 and 1977 he graduated from the grammar school for employed people and then studied law at the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck until 1982 . In addition, Brugger worked as an educator in the Norbertinum ( Wilten Abbey ). After completing his studies, Brugger did his legal practice at the District Court and Regional Court of Klagenfurt and was a trainee in Klagenfurt between 1983 and 1987 . After working as a lawyer in Klagenfurt between 1988 and 1991, he worked as a lawyer in Vienna between 1991 and 1999. In addition, from 1991 to 2001 he was a consultant for home affairs, justice and the media in the Green Parliamentary Club. Due to artificial heart valves, Brugger has been receiving an occupational disability pension from the Bar Association since 1999 and has been living in Matrei again as a househusband since 2001.

Josef Brugger was a member of the private radio authority between 1994 and 1999. On October 21, 2003, he was elected as a member of the Greens in the Tyrolean state parliament and represented the party in the committee for legal, municipal and building matters as well as in the immunity and incompatibility committee. In 2004 he ran with the “Green and Independent List Matrei (GUM)” in the municipal council elections and entered the Matrei municipal council with an election result of 8.72%. In the state parliament, Josef Brugger was community spokesman, democracy spokesman and media spokesman for the Tyrolean Greens and, as a state parliament member, was responsible for the regions of East Tyrol and Kitzbühel . After the Greens' losses in the state elections in Tyrol in 2008 , Josef Brugger resigned from the state parliament on July 1, 2008. However, he remained spokesman for the Lienz district and was put up as the top candidate for the municipal council elections in Matrei 2010, but failed when he returned to the municipal council.
