Lantian ( Chinese  蓝田县 , Pinyin Lántián Xiàn ) is a district in the southeast of the city of Xi'an in the northwestern Chinese province of Shaanxi . Lantian has an area of ​​2006 km² and approx. 655,000 registered inhabitants (end of 2018).

history

In 1963 and 1964 in Lantian County, human fossils were found in the villages of Chenjiawo and Gongwangling, which are assigned to the so-called Lantian man . The Chenjiawo site and the Gongwangling site have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 1982 . From there, the early humans assigned to Homo erectus migrated along the Ba River (灞河) to the Wei He and then to the Yellow River . During the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century - 771 BC) Lantian was called "Mi" (弭) and belonged to the urban area of ​​Zongzhou (宗周), the capital of the empire at that time. 379 BC During the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770-256 BC), King Ji Jiao established Lantian County there . The name means "jade field" and refers to the high quality jade that is found there.

During the Northern Zhou Dynasty (557-581) Lantian was temporarily upgraded to the commandant's office (郡, jùn ), with the supervision of the then district (today large municipality) Yushan and Bailu district (白鹿, today's large municipality Tangyu). In 573 the two districts were then reunited to form Lantian district. During all this time, until 1956, Lantian always belonged to the area of ​​what is now known as Xi'an . Then the district was temporarily directly subordinate to Shaanxi Province, from 1961 to the Weinan Special Area (渭南 专区) until it finally returned to the city of Xi'an in 1983.

The Shuilu Temple is located in Puhua Parish , and the Northern Song Dynasty Lantian Lu family burial site in Wulitou Village (五里 头村) in Sanli Parish ( 三 里镇) , which has been on the list of the Northern Song Dynasty since 1996 and 2013, respectively There are monuments of the People's Republic of China .
