Goody’s is a Greek fast food chain . The company is part of the Vivartia Group and forms the Food Services and Entertainment division . There are currently over 170 branches in Greece , Cyprus , Belarus , Bulgaria , Australia , Kosovo , Albania and Mayotte . The Goody's company logo shows the company name in graffiti , under which the lettering "Burger House" is flanked by two stars.

history

The founders of Goody's - Ioannis Dionisiadis, Achilleas Folias and Nikolaos Pappas - opened the first branch in Thessaloniki in 1975 . While the company initially introduced American-style fast food in Greece, after the opening of McDonald’s and Wendy's in Greece , it turned to a more service and selection-oriented gastronomy. In the 1990s, Goody's also took over the traditional Greek brand Floca (café and confectionery) and founded 78 café branches under the name Flocafé , anticipating the expansion of Starbucks .

Goody's could not gain a foothold in Bulgaria and closed two of the three branches, which had invested € 3.3 million in opening. As a result, plans to expand to the Czech Republic, Hungary and Serbia were postponed. For the time being, the chain is concentrating on the markets of Greece and Cyprus, as only there is a noteworthy fast food market above the established American chains.

In 2001, Delta Holding became a new owner after a hostile takeover and made it part of the DELTA Group, which merged in 2003 to Vivartia , whose parent company is the Marfin Investment Group .

Food

Goody's offers a range of burgers as well as Italian pasta dishes as well as individual dishes from Greek cuisine. Food is generally served on plates and served with metal cutlery. It is worth mentioning that many of the menus on offer belong to the so-called “ Mediterranean diet ”.

strategy

Initially positioned as an adaptation of American fast food, the strategy later changed in favor of a menu selection that was more tailored to Greek cuisine. Metal cutlery and plates are also preferred to serving in cardboard boxes.

In general, the offer is characterized by a large selection and is priced slightly higher than the McDonald’s branches. These have so far not been able to significantly increase their market share of 35 percent (compared to 50% of Goody's ).
