Gordian N. Hasselblatt

Gordian N. Hasselblatt (* 1961) is a German lawyer and partner in the Cologne office of the German commercial law firm CMS Hasche Sigle .

biography

Gordian N. Hasselblatt studied at the Universities of Bonn and Hamburg and at the University of the Pacific in the McGeorge School of Law there in Sacramento, California . Here he obtained his Master of Laws in 1995 . He received his doctorate in 1997 at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) on the subject of "The demarcation between responsible third-party and self-responsible self-endangerment in tort law".

Since 1997 he has been a partner in the Cologne office of the law firm CMS Hasche Sigle . He specializes in intellectual property law .

Professional activities

The attorney's work focuses on trademark law , competition law and design law . In addition, he also looks after mandates in labeling law and copyright law.

Hasselblatt is also a member of the expert committee for trademark and competition law of the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (GRUR), Regional Director Europe of the World Law Group, member of the executive committee of the Intellectual Property Working Group (AGEM) in the German Lawyers' Association (DAV) in the International Trademark Association (INTA), the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright (AIPPI) and the German-American Lawyers Association.

He is Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property at the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific and Professor of International Trademark Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law . He was also a lecturer in competition law at the West German Academy for Communication (1992-2012).

Hasselblatt is also a regular invited speaker at international conferences on various IP topics. For example, he gave lectures on current topics such as " BREXIT Legal consequences for law firms and clients!" or "The EU Trademark Law after the Reform".

Publications

Gordian N. Hasselblatt is the editor and co-author of the Munich Lawyers Handbook for Intellectual Property Law . He is co-author of the manual of competition law and co-author of the UWG Handkommentar von Götting / Nordemann. He is also the editor of the English-language commentaries "Article-by-article commentary - European Trade Mark Regulation" and "Article-by-article commentary - Community Design Regulation".
