Gordon Marsden

Gordon Marsden (* 28. November 1953 in Manchester ) is a British politician of the Labor Party . Marsden since 1997 MP for the constituency Blackpool South in the British House of Commons .

Life

Marsden was born in Manchester in 1953. After graduating from Stockport Grammar School , Marsden studied Modern History at New College , Oxford . He then studied politics and international relations at the Warburg Institute , part of the University of London , and at Harvard University . After completing his studies, he worked as a tutor at the Open University since 1994. He was also a professional writer for History Today and New Socialist magazines.

After he failed at the first attempt in 1992, Marsden won the 1997 general election for the Blackpool South constituency . Marsden was re-elected in the 2001 and 2005 general election. Marsden is a member of the Fabian Society , which he chaired in 2000 and 2001.

Marsden is openly gay with his life partner in Brighton .
