Gorgos of Iasos ( Greek Γόργος), son of Theodotus , was a statesman and diplomat of the 4th century BC. From the Carian city ​​of Iasos in Asia Minor .

Due to the expansion of Macedonia by Alexander the Great , Gorgos and his brother Minnion successfully entered into negotiations with Alexander over the inland waters of Iasos. In the spring of 324 BC Chr. He negotiated with Alexander on the repatriation of exiles regarding the " Verbanntendekrets " and entered regarding the Samos Question for the former by Athens displaced Samian one. After Alexander had his "exile decree" announced publicly, Gorgos and other ambassadors presented him with golden wreaths.

Gorgos remained until the autumn of 324 BC. In Alexander's court camp and then traveled to Ekbatana , where he had a herald announced that he had honored Alexander with 3,000 gold wreaths. He also informed the archonate in Iasos by letter that the previously expelled Samians living in Iasos should be sent back to Samos at the expense of the community. Because of these engagements, he and his brother Minnion, including possible descendants, were finally honored in Iasos through tax exemption and prohedry (acceptance of honorary seats, for example at theater performances) and with recognition of full citizenship in Samos.
