Gorkha Airlines was a Nepalese airline based in Kathmandu that offered national connections from Pokhara and Kathmandu to airports in the Himalayas .

history

Gorkha Airlines was founded in 1996. The operating recording was made in the same year from the Kathmandu airport with two leased helicopters of the type Mil Mi-17 . In 1998 the company took over its first two Dornier 228s . After the last helicopter was taken out of service in 2005, Gorkha Airlines only used this type of aircraft. The company ceased operations in 2008.

Incidents

  • On June 30, 2005, a Gorkha Airlines Dornier 228-200 ( aircraft registration number 9N-AEO ) got off the runway when landing at Lukla Airport, which is difficult to approach . The aircraft was so badly damaged that it had to be written off. The twelve occupants (nine passengers and three crew members) survived but were slightly injured.
