Gorlice basin
The Gorlice Basin ( Obniżenie Gorlickie in Polish ) in Poland is a small basin in Lesser Poland in the middle of the Central Beskid foothills . It lies at an altitude of approx. 350 m above sea level. NN and covers an area of approx. 225 km², whereby it is a maximum of approx. 40 km long and 20 km wide.

The Gorlice Basin is part of the Central Beskid Foothills and extends along the Ropa between the Low Beskids and the Jasło Mountains in the south, the Ciężkowice Mountains in the north, and the Jasło Krosno Basin in the east, together with which it is Sanoker flat land forms.
The Gorlice Basin is densely populated. The only bigger city is Gorlice . The fertile region is otherwise characterized by agriculture. Together with the areas to the east, it belongs to the oldest oil production area in the world. The oil wells are now largely exhausted.
One of the ethnic groups that inhabit the basin are the descendants of the Forest Germans .
