history

The first authority for film production and distribution of the RSFSR until 1924 was called Goskino. The successor organizations were called Sowkino (until 1930) and Soyuskino. From 1972 to 1978 the committee got its original name back. Between 1978 and its dissolution on November 14, 1991 , it was called the "State Committee of the USSR for Cinematography". Alexei Wladimirowitsch Romanow (1963–1972) and Filipp Timofejewitsch Ermasch (1972–1986) were among the directors of Goskino .
