The God House is a home for the final phase of the First Period (1,626 to 1,725), which at the intersection of Avenue God and God Lane in Rockport, Massachusetts stands. The Samuel Gott House, built with wooden planks and provided with a mansard roof , was built between 1715 and 1730 and shows the transitional nature of the construction techniques used; nor is the mansard roof a common feature of the First Period. There are also two dormers that were added to the building some time later. The oldest part of the house is the right side with what is now the central chimney; this part of the building was later extended to include the rooms to the left of the chimney. The interior furnishings and decorations from that time have been preserved. The house has been owned by the Gott family since it was built and has been bequeathed to the current residents over the generations.

Samuel Gott had acquired a property on the Cape near Flat Stone Cove east of Lane's Cove around 1707. He had lived in the Halibut Point area since 1702.

The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 9, 1990 .
