Gottfried Heinrich Mezler

Johann Gottfried Heinrich Melzer (* March 2, 1820 in Niederfähre , today a district of Meißen ; † January 2, 1867 in Meißen) was a bossier (porcelain mass former ) at the Royal Meißen Porcelain Manufactory .

effect

Between 1845 and 1855 he developed a white, fireproof, hair-crack-free stove tile. On April 13, 1855, he received a “Royal Privilege” from the Saxon Ministry of the Interior for his “Meißner Patent Tile”. Melzer thus laid the foundation stone for the Meissen oven ceramics industry ( Teichert-Werke ).

Melzer also invented the colored enameled pin heads.
