Teichert porcelain was also known as common Meissen .

In 1840 , Gottfried Heinrich Melzer developed a new process for the manufacture of stove tiles, which was patented on April 13, 1855, by the embosser of the Royal Saxon Porcelain Manufactory Meissen . The independent master potter Johann Friedrich Carl Teichert was interested in the process and in 1857 took over the production of the Melzian stove tiles. Since there was no longer enough space in his workshop at Hahnemannplatz in 1863, Teichert had new factory buildings built for his company Carl Teichert Meißen on Meißner Neumarkt.

Carl Teichert died during the Franco-Prussian War during a visit by German troops near Paris on February 6, 1871 at the age of 41. In August 1872 the company was converted into a stock corporation. In 1879 the production of porcelain began, which until then had been the monopoly of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory. At the same time the company was renamed the Meißner Ofen- und Porzellanfabrik (formerly C. Teichert) . From this point on, the goods were stamped with (M.0. & P.F. Vorm. CTM) . In 1885, 460 people worked for the factory. In 1886 a porcelain manufacturer founded around 1870 as a siderolite factory was taken over in Eichwald , where crockery with onion pattern has also been produced since then. In the 1890s, however, this factory was sold to the entrepreneur Bernhard Bloch, who then hired Gustav Klimt for new designs. In 1891, the production of wall panels was also started. In 1896 it was decided to build more buildings for the panel production. As a result of delays, including a major fire, full production could not start until 1919.

Around 1925 the Meißner Ofen- und Porzellanfabrik (formerly C. Teichert) acquired shares in Ernst Teichert GmbH and Meißner Wandplattenwerke Saxonia GmbH .

In 1930 the porcelain production was stopped and in April 1930 the production license as well as the original models for the blue onion pattern were given to the porcelain factory Lorenz Hutschenreuther in Selb.

Carl's brother Johann Friedrich Ernst Teichert worked for Carl Teichert Meißen as a works manager until 1868 . In 1869 he started his own tiled stove factory in the Meißner district of Cölln , which he converted into the joint stock company Sächsische Ofen- und Chamottewaaren-Fabrik in 1872 . E. Teichert convicted. This stamped from then on with (S.0.F. vorm. ETM) . In 1905, the company's wall panel department was expanded by taking over the Markowsky oven factory.

In 1884 Ernst Teichert also founded a porcelain factory in Cölln, but died in October 1886. His son Christian Teichert took over the company and immediately switched it to the production of stove tiles. In July 1901 it was converted into a limited company, Ernst Teichert GmbH . This produced colored glazed earthenware wall tiles, tiled stoves, building ceramics and tableware. In 1913 700 people were employed.

Teichert-Werke

Around 1930 the Meißner furnace and porcelain factory were vorm. Carl Teichert Meißen , Ernst Teichert GmbH and Meißner Wandplattenwerke Saxonia GmbH merged under the company Teichert-Werke Meißen , which in the future mainly produced colored glazed stove tiles.
