Gottfried Schwendy

Gottfried Schwendy (born September 25, 1869 in Berlin , † March 29, 1958 in Osterode am Harz ) was a German administrative lawyer and district administrator in Osterode am Harz and Katowice.

Life

Schwendy studied law in Heidelberg and Berlin and became a member of the Corps Vandalia in Heidelberg in 1889 . In 1891 he passed the trainee exam in Berlin. In 1894 he became a government trainee in Schleswig, in 1897 a government assessor in Neustadt a. Rbg., Later in Frankfurt am Main and at the Oberpräsidium in Königsberg. In 1906 he became district administrator of the Osterode am Harz district , in 1916 district administrator of the Kattowitz district and, in 1917, also chief of police there. In 1924 he became government vice-president in Breslau, in 1930 commissioner for aid to the east.

Schwendy was a co-founder, long-time chairman and honorary chairman of the Heimat- und Geschichtsverein Osterode und Umgebung e. V.
